Why one image size rarely fits every platform
Social networks use different feed ratios, profile crops, cover banners and vertical story formats. Uploading one master image everywhere can lead to unexpected crops, tiny text or important subjects being hidden by interface elements.
A better workflow starts with a high-resolution master and creates platform-specific derivatives from that source.
Think in aspect ratios first
Square 1:1 assets are flexible for many feeds. Portrait 4:5 images use more vertical screen space in feed layouts, while 9:16 is the common shape for Stories, Reels and other full-screen mobile placements. Wide cover images need a very different composition.
Pixel dimensions matter, but the aspect ratio determines what part of the composition survives a crop.
Keep a safe area for text and logos
Profiles, buttons, captions and platform controls can overlap edges. Keep important text, faces and logos away from the extreme boundaries of a design, especially on vertical content and banners.

Create derivatives from one master
